Get Food Get Involved

Here at the Flathead Food Bank we work diligently to make sure our standards are high and our customers get the best quality food that we can possibly give them. Without the food our donors give us, we would not be able to operate. These donors are our most valuable partners, donating over 300 tons of food per year. We accept donations every day and they are sorted through at our facility where we have pre-set standards on what we can and won’t serve.  My thought has always been “if you wouldn’t put it in your mouth, why would you serve it to someone else?”  Quality and consistency helps us to put great food on the tables of those families who are currently struggling.  We are grateful to be able to help.  Lori Botkin, Executive Director, Flathead Food Bank.

The Flathead Food Bank is a nonprofit community organization. Our mission is to provide temporary, emergency food assistance to those in need. We operate our main pantry in Kalispell and four satellite pantries in the Flathead Valley, as well as several other programs.

In 2014, the Flathead Food Bank served 3,930 households, 23,106 boxes of food (average of 6 visits per household annually). Total food given away in 2014 was 1,465,000 pounds! That is an increase of 439,348 lbs since 2012!

Out of those customers, 37% were children, 18% were senior citizens, and 58% of those households are headed by females!

Our needs at the Flathead Food Bank are ongoing and urgent. The number of families we assist is continually growing.
