The
Flathead Food Bank is always happy to accept and encourage new volunteers
as our program relies heavily on our volunteer support.
Donating your time, talent, and treasures to the Flathead Food Bank can
be creative and fun. If you would like to donate 2 hrs a week, or 20 hrs
per week at one of our pantry locations, we will provide training and
orientation for your success!
Volunteer efforts include stocking shelves with food, preparing food
bags, cleaning, organizing, answering phones, participating in our sponsored
events, donating time at our food drives, and anything else you can think
of to help out!

| If
you would like to arrange a time to meet with our Volunteer Coordinator,
please call (406) 752-3663 to set up an appointment. You'll be glad
you did! |
The
Kalispell Pantry is open from 7:30am to 6:00pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Boxer and Interviewer positions are specifically needed during these
times to help things run smoothly and efficiently. The food processing,
sorting, stocking, and cleaning are done every day and scheduled as
volunteers are available. The Senior Commodity Program falls on the
last Monday and Tuesday of each month, and volunteers are always needed! |
BOXER

Boxing is one of our most physical jobs and requires 2 people to be
at the pantry at all times during hours of operation. We rotate people
in 2-3 hr shifts, and traditionally these volunteers come at the same
time every week. These positions work hand-in-hand with our clients
making sure that they get the food they need to build nutritious meals
at home.
REQUIREMENTS:

to lift a maximum of 40-lbs.
- Ability
to stand, bend and twist consistently for up to 3 hrs at a time.
- Ability
to communicate effectively and positively with clients, fellow volunteers,
and Flathead Food Bank staff.
- Must
use safe practices when lifting and bending.
- Ability
to accurately follow Food Boxing Guidelines form which assists boxers
in determining quantities for each family.
INTERVIEWER JOB DESCRIPTION: The interviewers are Flathead
Food Bank's first point of contact with clients and are often a place
for clients to share their story. The interviewer must have compassion,
be a good listener, yet, possess the ability to be firm and hold clients
accountable to the Flathead Food Bank requirements. The interviewer
can offer support to clients through referral to other agencies, or
simply by listening to the client.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability
to write legibly on client cards and wish-list slips.
- Ability
to sit for 3 hrs at a time.
- Must
be able to communicate effectively and positively with clients,
fellow volunteers, and the Flathead Food Bank staff.
FOOD PROCESSING JOB DESCRIPTION: Food processing is a job
that most any volunteer can participate in even while doing other
jobs! These jobs vary on a day-to-day basis, and requires an update
with FFB staff before you get started. We have fresh produce that
comes in daily, and other items that need to be sorted and broken
into smaller packaging. The times are flexible and you can volunteer
for as little or as much time as you have available.
